Annapurna Base Camp and What to Expect!

Annapurna Base Camp trek is one amazing experience that involves majestic himalayan vistas, mountain pastures, breathtaking landscape and a variety of flora and fauna. A wise man once said adventure destinations open a wide door to life lessons. The home of over 6000 meters mountain peaks is one such destination. Mount Annapurna (8091 m) is the 10th highest peak in the World. The journey to the base camp (4130 m/ 13549 ft) is usually a 11 day itinerary. The Annapurna Sanctuary route is a 14 days trek appropriate for those who want to explore and experience a more relaxed trek. Many international visitors prefer to stay in Kathmandu and travel to Pokhara from there. Culture shock abounds as they travel from Kathmandu to Pokhara and begin their trek. The ABC Trek is considered difficult as there are many uphills and downhills that one has to go through in a single day. The constantly changing weather makes the trip more challenging. Having said that, the changing weather, moving clouds with the mesmerizing view is the beauty of the entire trip. There are few small villages where trekkers can rest for the day or more. These are Gurung villages which follow traditional Nepali tradition and incorporate them in their day-to-day life. Even though the journey to the base camp is well marked and everything is pre-planned, an adventure trip has its charm so “Expect the unexpected”!
